Silence Therapeutics is exploding higher following the announcement that Merck KGaA has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the company in an all-cash deal. Under the terms of the agreement, Merck will pay $20.00 for each American Depositary Share, a valuation that represents a significant premium over the company's previous closing price of $8.68. While the acquisition has driven the stock price toward the $20.00 offer level, investor rights law firm Halper Sadeh LLC has already initiated an investigation into whether the deal provides a fair price for shareholders.
